Bringing The Garden Indoors

1/1/2021

Refresh your Living Space with Indoor Plants

Picture
Have you ever visited a home that contains indoor plants? Now imagine that same home with no plants... it would have a completely different feel to it, right? You bet it would! Just like being outside in a garden, experiencing a space with indoor plants provides a connection to nature that is not only inviting, but refreshing.
Creating an "indoor garden" can be a very rewarding process that transforms an otherwise sterile, drab environment into a tranquil, calm retreat. Not only are they pretty to look at, but indoor plants offer health benefits too. Yes, they do their part to filter the air, but much like caring for their outdoor counterparts, the work of tending to indoor plants is also a stress reliever. So, healthy plants = a healthier human. A win, win!

Ready to shop for a new indoor plant?
Be in the know before you go!
With a multitude of indoor plant varieties available, deciding which indoor plant would be right for your space (or spaces) can seem overwhelming. Fortunately, our Nursery Professionals can assist you with finding just the right plant (or plants) for your home or office.

Here are some handy things to know about your space before heading out to the Garden Center:

  • How much light will my new plant receive in the spot where I want it to live?
Plants such as Peace Lily are tolerant of lower light whereas Succulents tend to prefer bright light. So that your indoor plant can live its best life, you'll want to give it optimal (or as close to optimal as possible) lighting for its type. If you find yourself wanting to add greenery to a spot that gets no light at all, realistic faux plants are an option. (No joke, our guests have even had trouble telling the real from the faux plants!)

  • How much time do I have to care for my indoor plants?
Away from home a lot? Plants that requires little attention or watering such as the Snake Plant or ZZ Plant may be just the ticket. Have a lot of free time to shower your plants with affection? Well, the houseplant world is your oyster!

  • How much space do I have for my indoor plants?
Don't forget that the baby plant you've had your eye on will grow up one day. How big will it get and do you have a plan for upsizing it to a new pot and possibly new location? It's not a bad idea to give this some forethought, especially when considering larger growing plants like Monstera or Fiddle Leaf Fig.

Beyond plant selection, our Nursery Professionals will be happy to provide customized recommendations for containers, potting soils, fertilizing and watering to get your new indoor plants  off to their best start!

Now, get growing!
